1. Have basic knowledge of presort mailer processes and
requirements.2. Maintain an adequate amount of processing supplies
on automated sorters including, but not limited to, handling
units,sleeves, labels, rubber bands, and tag holders.3. Verbally
communicate with Operator to determine current sort plan or any
problems noted with the sorter.4. Set up handling units on bin
shelving with appropriate labels inserted for the sort plan in the
process. Ensure only one legiblethe label is placed in a clear
label holder.5. Ensure automated mail is sorted to the appropriate
bin and notify the Operator if a problem is noted to avoid
rework.6. Review mailpieces for the correct date, endorsement,
postage amount and codes, move update, and automationcompatibility.
Notify Operator of any critical errors noted to avoid rework and
verification failures.7. Recognize bad barcodes and poor quality
(tiled, slanted, spotty, unreadable, or inaccurate barcodes) and
notifyOperator immediately.8. Ensure mail is placed in the correct
handling unit by reading the numeric 5-Digit ZOP directly before
the barcode andcomparing it to both the ZIP in the delivery address
and the handling unit label before placing mail into the handling
unit9. Neatly place mail in tray upright and facing forward.10.
Read a tray label and identify qualification levels (5-digit, AADC,
and Mixed AADC.)11. Correctly and safely remove mailpiece jams by
following the PBPS EH&'S "Clearing Mail Jam Work Instruction"--
- and bypulling mail backward and upward to avoid damaging the
mail.12. Forward jammed or overflow mail to the correct bin
location to avoid double counts and incorrect documentation.13.
Follow internal handling procedures for damaged secure mail.14.
Keep mail groups separated by specific jobs.15. Keep postage
rejects separated by rate checking for foreign mail, incomplete
addresses, and empty envelopes.16. Assure all mail is cleared from
the sortation bins on the sorter and shelving for finalizing of
mail.17. Demonstrate safety and security precautions and follow
company policies.18. Maintain a clean and organized immediate work
area.19. Ensure USPS equipment is used only for the movement of
"live"-- - mail.20. Locate and explain the QMS message board for
current updates including, but not limited to, mail flow,
qualitystatement, goals, trends, and awards.21. Discuss the
importance of the job position in relation to the QMS program.22.
Lift 7 to 30 pounds, walk, stand stoop or bend approximately at
least 90% of the time.
