April 24, 2023The City of Carson, California is conducting a search
for a Director of Information Technology and Security. This at-will
position reports to Assistant City Manager and is a key member of
the City Manager's Executive Leadership Team. The Director of IT
and Security is directly responsible for the City's strategic use
of technology, managing the Information Technology and Security
Department, including the information technology and GIS operations
for all City departments to improve processes and enhance citizen
services. The Department has 12 full-time city staff and an
operating budget is approximately $3.06 million. The current
structure of the Information Technology and Security Department
consists of the following operating sections: Network Operations
Section, Business System Application Section, and GIS Section. The
Director is responsible for the overall management and planning of
information technology services, including technology acquisition
and implementation, business systems analysis, and developing and
fostering a culture of innovation and citizen engagement through
technology.Requires a bachelor's degree in IT, System/Software
Engineering, or a related field. Additionally, a minimum of 6 years
of work experience performing IT functions within a public agency,
including at least 3 years in a supervisory/management role is
required. The work experience required for this position must
include previous experience drafting IT policy and procedures.The
salary range for this position is $176,633 to $225,097. In
