University. SCHOOL OF HUMAN ECOLOGY - DIRECTOR - -Position:
-Director, Human EcologyTwelve-month -Employment start date is
negotiable with the selected candidateSalary commensurate with
qualifications and experience -Responsibilities: -The School of
Human Ecology at Louisiana Tech University is seeking a dedicated,
experienced, and qualified Director. -The Director provides
leadership for an AAFCS accredited unit with undergraduate degrees
in Fashion Merchandising and Retail Studies, Human Development and
Family Science (Child Development Specialist, Child Life, and
Family Science concentrations), and Nutrition and Dietetics; an
ACEND-accredited post-baccalaureate dietetic internship; an MS
degree in Nutrition and Dietetics. In addition, the Director will
oversee the Director, staff, and students who work at the licensed
5-star rated Early Childhood Education Center, serving 34
three-year-old and four-year-old children each year. The Center has
a Director, who is a faculty member in the School of Human Ecology
and so works closely with the School Director to manage personnel,
enrollment, and budget for the Center. -The Director serves as the
chief executive and budgetary officer of the School and reports to
the Dean of the College of Applied and Natural Sciences. -The
appointment includes expectations in administration, teaching,
service, and research. Administration includes the oversight of the
described academic programs, mentoring of faculty, development and
administration of budget, evaluation of programs and personnel,
recruiting and retention of students, fostering alumni
relationship, and representing the School of Human Ecology to the
University and public at large. -Teaching includes teaching of
graduate and/or undergraduate courses each quarter and may include
advising graduate and undergraduate students as needed. Research
includes supporting faculty research, as well as participating in
research, the writing of manuscripts, and submission of external
grants. -Service includes participating in professional association
activities and serving on School, College, and University
committees. -Qualifications: -The successful candidate will
possess:--- - - -An earned doctorate in one of the disciplines
represented by the School or in a closely related field; ---- - -
-At least one degree from a Family and Consumer Sciences/Human
Ecology unit; ---- - - -A commitment to accreditation and a record
of participating in and/or leading accreditation self-studies;--- -
- -An understanding of each of the disciplines in the unit; ---- -
- -The ability to work effectively across disciplines, within and
external to the School;--- - - -Strong leadership skills;--- - -
-Excellent communication skills; ---- - - -A record of success in
instruction, research, and university, professional and community
service;--- - - -Rank of associate or full professor -preferred;
and--- - - -Knowledge and understanding of AAFCS to support program

approved concentration in Family Science ; an interdisciplinary
gerontology minor; a Child Life concentration that meets the
academic standards for internship application and is endorsed by
the Association of Child Life Professionals, and a Child
Development Specialist concentration providing qualifications for
an Ancillary Teaching Certificate through the Louisiana Department
of Education --- B.S. degree in Nutrition and Dietetics with a
Registered Dietitian (RD) concentration that is an Accreditation
Council for Education in Nutrition and Dietetics (ACEND) fully
accredited Didactic Program in Dietetics as well as a non-RD
concentration in nutrition --- A fully accredited (ACEND) dietetic
internship with a Graduate Certificate that is coordinated with the
M.S. degree in Nutrition and Dietetics. -The School of Human
Ecology has an enrollment of approximately 200 undergraduate and 40
graduate students and 15 faculty positions. -Further information is
