Position Summary:
The Director of the LA Galaxy Foundation and Community Relations is
responsible for the management of the daily activities of the LA
Galaxy Foundation (LAGF) and Community Relations Department,
including planning community development activities and
implementing all philanthropic initiatives. - This individual will
develop and implement a fundraising program to support the
charitable initiatives of the foundation. In addition, this
individual will support the department's efforts to establish a
strong community presence. This individual will also work closely
with Soccer Operations and the team on all organizational
activities and appearances.
Essential Functions:
- Responsible for the development and implementation of
fundraising programs to support the charitable initiatives of the
LA Galaxy Foundation. - Meet and work with various non-profit
organizations, sponsors, community officials, season ticket
holders, executive staff, and sports teams regarding
cause-marketing campaigns that are beneficial to all
parties.
- Create Community Relations and LA Galaxy Foundation budget;
communicate department's financial needs to President and Finance;
operate within approved budget.
- Develop relationships and partnerships with non-profit
organizations (such as Children's Hospital Los Angeles, Ronald
McDonald House Charities, Boys & Girls Club and HomeBoy
Industries), surrounding communities, and other organizations to
maximize fundraising opportunities.
- Organize large and small fundraising events, such as LA Galaxy
Golf Tournament, LA Galaxy 5k, Cosmo Club and/or similar events, to
benefit the LA Galaxy Foundation. - Delegate duties to Community
Relations Manager to ensure the successful completion of these
events.
- Create, develop and implement the Protect the Pitch program for
the surrounding community.
- Direct participation in community events and community giving
programs by working with the Community Relations/ LA Galaxy
Foundation staff to organize all departmental events. Relations and
LA Galaxy Foundation programs, events, and appearances with regular
updates provided to AEG Connect.
- Develop and maintain relationships with Soccer Operations staff
and families including players, training staff, and coaching staff.
- Serve as main contact for all player spouse/family needs;
responsible for developing player concierge program.
- Collaborate with department heads on all player appearances and
community campaigns by reaching solutions to satisfy department
requests for appearances.
- Promote a culture of innovation, creating and launching new
LAGF programs and offerings to better the Club as well as growing
and building on existing programs to enhance involvement and our
community footprint. Bring new ideas to life that have not been
done before.
Required Qualifications:
- BA/BS Degree (4-year) In marketing, public relations,
communications, or related field from an accredited College/
University required
- 6-8 years Experience in a similar field preferred
- Experience creating and implementing a fundraising/ non-profit
plan -
- Experience in event coordination and management -
- Experience managing a team and working with high level
executives
- Commitment to the mission, vision and core values of the LA
Galaxy
- Ability to collaborate effectively with leadership, peers, and
colleagues across the organization
- Is a highly organized and detail-oriented "all-in" team player,
with excellent written and verbal communication skills and
exceptional customer service.
- Strong computer skills with proficiency in Microsoft Office
products including Word, Excel and PowerPoint
