Job Description

We are currently seeking an experienced, self-motivated Senior Manager of System Administration to lead our team of System Administrators. This team is responsible for providing effective system architecture design services and technical support, while also ensuring system availability and resiliency. The successful candidate will be extremely proficient in all aspects of systems engineering and administration in a security-oriented, Windows, Linux-managed server environment. In addition to providing technical expertise and process leadership, this role is also responsible for ongoing team and staff development. You will enthusiastically guide a team of highly motivated individuals that regularly collaborate on a wide range of operational tasks and projects in a fast-paced, "best idea wins" environment.

A day on the job looks like this:
--- Performing analysis, acquisition, installation, maintenance and upgrades of server/computer hardware, operating systems and software utilities
--- Deploying and managing physical and virtual Windows and Linux servers in production, test, UAT and development environments spanning multiple locations
--- Monitoring and optimizing existing systems, and leading the development and installation of new infrastructure systems
--- Providing system administration of hardware, operating systems, storage systems, application administration, configuration management and overall solutions
--- Ensuring effective monitoring and support for key systems on a 24-7 basis
--- Maintaining server backup systems and monitoring system performance
--- Developing the process to proactively track hardware and software versions and proactively drive upgrades to ensure ongoing security, maintainability and compatibility
--- Monitoring maintenance contract status, and facilitating renewal and replacement as needed
--- Collaborating with development teams, networking and support to address service requests and troubleshoot issues
--- Documenting system configuration standards and procedures, ensuring team adherence to standards and creating procedures for troubleshooting of IT hardware and software
--- Managing change control processes for the team, including representing the change during change control board meetings
--- Managing the performance objectives and professional development of the System Administration Team, including onboarding, coaching, feedback and periodic reviews
--- Maintaining a disaster recovery plan for IT operations and production systems, and coordinating responses to emergency production issues
--- Leading and participating in PCI DSS-related corporate initiatives

--- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science/MIS or equivalent degree/work experience
--- 10+ years of experience in System Administration as a Senior System Administrator (Level 3)
--- 5+ years in managing and leading System Administration teams
--- System Administration/System Engineer certification in Microsoft Technologies
--- Expert working knowledge of VMware vSphere Enterprise and cloud virtualization systems
--- Expert knowledge of Active Directory Domain and Group Policy Administration
--- Expert knowledge of Microsoft Exchange/Office 365 Server Administration
--- Solid understanding of Microsoft SharePoint Server Administration
--- Solid understanding of basic network topologies and concepts
--- Solid understanding and working knowledge of SAN topologies and concepts
--- Windows/Linux OS and Hardware patch deployment experience
--- Expert knowledge of Windows Server installation and administration
--- Ability to provide off-hours and on-call support as needed to support ongoing 24-7 operations and perform off-hours project deployments
--- Working knowledge of Red Hat, CentOS and Debian
--- Ability to use scripting such as Bash and PowerShell to automate system tasks
--- Experience with scripting tools such as Python or Ruby is a plus
--- Experience with security hardening via group policies, local policies, scripting, etc.
--- Experience with monitoring tools like SolarWinds, Nagios, ELK or Prometheus
--- Cloud platform experience (Azure or AWS) is a big plus
--- Experience managing a PCI environment is a big plus
--- Experience with Infrastructure as Code tools and technologies is a plus
--- Strong sense of urgency and customer orientation
--- Demonstrated ability to develop and coach staff and build strong teams
--- Excellent oral and written communication skills
--- Strong organizational skills and the ability to formalize processes and procedures where needed
--- Highly motivated self-starter
--- Team player who expects the same of staff
