Job Description
At Intel, Integration Research Engineers are responsible for leading scientific inquiries into enabling the manufacture of innovative device materials and architectures coupled with the realization of these architectures in real product designs.
Your primary responsibility will be to investigate the feasibility of applying scientific principles and concepts to potential inventions and products that are typically 5+ years ahead of landing on the product roadmap.
Additionally, in this role you will be expected but not limited to:



  • initiate and drive the design, development and implementation of advanced scientific projects, in both fabrication and laboratory environments, with the goal of fueling Intel's future growth in the area of state-of-the- art manufacturing.


  • Have access to a fabrication line that will allow you to integrate the many individual steps necessary for the manufacture of highly integrated microprocessors. Collaborate with internal and external equipment suppliers and end-users to develop the tools necessary to exploit your understanding of the advanced process design techniques gained through your research.


  • Identify and mitigate any shortcomings and bottlenecks identified through your research by evaluating and proposing hardware modifications that will resolve these issues.


  • Participate in, or lead, the transfer of viable technology options to the internal technology development team.


  • Maintain and advance your knowledge of state-of-the-art process development principles and theories, as well as contribute to technical journals, conferences, and patent applications relevant to the process technology domain.


    Qualifications
    You must possess the below requirements to be initially considered for this position. Preferred qualifications are in addition to the requirements and are considered a plus factor in identifying top candidates. Experience listed below would be obtained through schoolwork and/or classes and/or project work and/or internships and/or military training and/or work experience.
    Minimum Qualifications:
    PhD with a focus on semiconductor process development in the disciplines of Electrical Engineering, Physics, Materials Science, Chemistry, Chemical Engineering
    Preferred Qualifications:
    PhD leading to experience in any of the following areas:


    • Process research and development for semiconductor devices


    • Integration of novel material systems into semiconductor devices


    • Electrical characterization of semiconductor devices including reliability


    • Process impact on reliability and device modeling extractions


    • First authorship in well-known research journals, detailing advancement of semiconductor device technology (logic, memory and RF)

      Working Model
      This role will be eligible for our hybrid work model which allows employees to split their time between working on-site at their assigned Intel site and off-site. In certain circumstances the work model may change to accommodate business needs.
