At Ecovyst, we are ready for change. Our Ecoservices division is on the hunt for a Process Engineer to be based at our Dominguez, CA (Long Beach) plant. We are not offering visa sponsorship or relocation for this role at this time.We are not using agencies for this role at this time.GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES: Responsible for monitoring and optimizing plant process performance. Responsible for improving plant safety, reliability, and efficiency.Provide plant production troubleshooting support and technical support for assigned projectsInvestigate and implement ways to reduce costs in Plant processesAuthor FEL1 Capital Project scope & justifications.Execute small capital projects, including field construction supervision.Supervise contractors for assigned projectsParticipate on HS&E teams/meetings to address safety and environmental issuesConduct incident investigations and implement corrective actions as neededPerform release calculations for environmental releasesAnalyze problems/opportunities and participate in identifying solution optionsProvide technical documentation to provide continuity and prevent recurrence of problemsSupport planning, execution, and documentation of Turnaround activities.Provide technical support for startup/shutdown proceduresAssist with design, analysis and optimization of highly integrated processes as well as basic unit operations such as reactors or heat exchangersManage Operations documentation including SOPs, P&IDs, BFDs, PFDs, Critical Interlock Matrix, Master Alarm List & Control Narratives, and alarm management efforts.Support Management Team initiatives and help drive change.Support Equipment Strategy and Equipment Best Practice compliance.Use SUMO compliance tool to analyze process and drive improvements.Author RCFAs as needed.Improve process tuning and control schemesMaintain, update, and improve site control systems including DCS, SIS, PLCs, OSI/PI and IntelaTrac.Attend daily Production Meeting.HS&E RESPONSIBILITIES Ensure full compliance with all PHMP and PSM requirements, including but not limited to HAZOP Reviews, Pre-Start up Safety Reviews, and Management of Change; authoring and completing action items.Participate in PHAs and assist in driving related action items to completion.Conducts life critical permit, equipment ownership, and housekeeping audits.Promote and comply with Life Saving Behaviors.Use Stop Work Authority as necessary.Utilize corrective actions database in Enablon.Participate on HS&E teams/meetings to address safety and environmental issuesBe knowledgeable of and comply with all applicable site, corporate and regulatory safety and environmental requirements.Attend and actively participate in safety meetings and complete all applicable safety training as required.Properly inspect, use and maintain necessary PPE in accordance with site PPE matrixReport all safety or environmental incidents immediately and openly participate in the incident investigation. Specific Job Requirements Familiarity with industry standards & practices (OSHA, API, ASME, NFPA)Familiarity with PSM/RMP regulationsAbility to comprehend equipment, P&ID, loop, etc drawingsWorking knowledge of chemical engineering principles including process controlsAbility to multi-task and manage multiple prioritiesAbility to work in the field (climb, stairs, enter vessels, etc.)Problem solving and critical thinking skills with the ability to reason and deduceProficient with Word, Excel, PowerPoint requiredWill work in a 24/7 continuous operation chemical manufacturing plant and be required to be on call on a rotational basisAbility to communicate (both written and verbal) effectively and promptly with all levels of the organizationAbility to wear full face respiratorFamiliarity or experience with Aspen Tech Process Simulation Software a plus.Education and/or Experience:. Bachelor's degree (B.S.) in Chemical Engineering2-5 years chemical plant, refinery, and/or engineering experience
